Pasha Shapiro

Pasha Shapiro started his career as art director of broadcast design at national TV station in Saint Petersburg Russia under the supervision of acclaimed Russian film director Igor Maslennikov. In 1995 and 1996, Pasha and classmate Ernst Weber collaborated on several motion design projects, including film work for Aleksei Balabanov, Igor Maslennikov, Maksim Pezhemsky and other Russian film directors. Pasha received several awards and nominations for broadcast motion design, including a GRAPHICON Viewers’ Choice Award in 1995 and Telegraph Jury Prize in 1996. With a Master’s Degree in Information Design in hand, Pasha moved to the United States, where he collaborated with Ernst Weber to create the music video “Survivors” for the Pet Shop Boys.
A couple of dotcom adventures later, he broke into the advertising scene, and has created campaigns and websites for global brands including EA games, Adidas and Seagate. In early 2000 Pasha and Ernst Weber started to work on writing and producing short animation story “unpredictable behavior”. In 2008 this animation was premiered at New York film festival and was nominated for the best short film at 2008 Anima Mundi international festival, as well as, received official selection at numerous European and American festivals. In 2008 Pasha started to collaborate with 7 Grammy winning artist Will.I.Am. Their collaboration ranges from art installations to music videos and stage animated shows. In 2011 with Will.I.Am Pasha directed two super bowl TV commercials for tech giant Salesforce.
In 2014 Their Art installation Piramidi was presented at London’s Barbican Centre and later exhibited in modern art museums in LA, Stockholm, Athens and Istanbul. Between 2010 and 2015 Pasha directed music videos for Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, Anja Nelson. Several of those videos reach hundreds of millions of hits on Youtube.
